Activities
Physical movement should be an important part of a child or adolescent’s daily life. An increase in energy and alertness as well as a reduction in the risk factors associated with heart disease and stroke can occur when children and adolescents participate in physical activity. Physical, psychological, and social benefits will ensue when they engage in physical movements.
Below are activities to promote health-related fitness in fun and engaging ways. These activities put a different spin on traditional board, dice, and card games. Each link will lead you to a description of the activity and multiple variations in which to play the activity. The activities use BOSU balls, dynamic flexibility movements, medicine balls, stability balls, resistance bands, jump rope, and yoga. There are also activities that focus on core training and muscular fitness. These two areas use a combination of the health-related fitness areas. Our goal is that fun will be had by all and remember Every MOVE Counts.
