Jump Rope Swingin’

To play this activity, students need to be in groups of 3 to 4, have the jump rope cards, hula hoops, and music. The cards can be printed on four different colors or printed in black and white. If the cards are printed in black and white, allow the students to pick any four cards from the pile. Students then combine the moves in any order and perform the combination.

Within the black and white cards there are two cards that do not have jump rope moves listed. These can be used for you to write jump rope moves or for your students to create their own jump rope moves.

  1. Students select one card of each color or four cards total. The students decide the order of the cards.  As a group, students select which card they will perform first, second and so forth.
  2. When they are ready, the students should perform the moves as a group. The students jump five repetitions (or some number designated by the teacher). Time could also be used instead of repetitions.
  3. Students can then select new cards or reconfigure their existing cards to create a new routine.
