Virginia Junior Academy of Science Scholarship

James Madison University's College of Integrated Science and Technology is pleased to announce that it will award a scholarship to a student participating in the 2007 Virginia Junior Academy of Science conference at JMU. To be eligible for this scholarship, which will provide $2,000 per year for two years, the student must have been awarded and have accepted early admission to JMU. He or she must also be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Geographic Science, or Integrated Science and Technology within the College of Integrated Science and Technology.

Virginia Junior Academy of Science Scholarship

The College of Science and Mathematics at James Madison University is offering an academic scholarship to a high school student who attends and makes an oral presentation of her or his research at the 2007 Virginia Junior Academy of Science (VJAS) meeting at James Madison University.

Scholarship: $2,000 each year for two years

Criteria:

a. By the time of the VJAS meeting in May, the student must have applied for and been accepted to James Madison University for a major in one of the disciplines housed in the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM): Biology; Chemistry; Geology and Environmental Science; Mathematics and Statistics; Physics and Astronomy.
b. The student must attend and make an oral presentation of her or his research at the 2007 VJAS meeting.
c. Determination of the award recipient will be based primarily on the quality of the written paper submitted for judging, especially the scientific merit, and secondarily on the student’s high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores.
d. In order to receive the scholarship for the second year the student must still be in a CSM major and be performing in a satisfactory manner academically.
