NOTE: This scholarship application is separate from any others filed with James Madison University and is required for consideration for a Second Century Scholarship.

All applicants must enter JMU as freshmen in Fall 2016 and meet the following criteria:

  1. SAT ≥ 1200 for the math and critical reading (also referred to as "verbal") combined score, or ACT score ≥ 27
  2. GPA ≥ 3.5 (performance in science, technology, and mathematics courses will receive additional consideration)
  3. Demonstrated interest in and commitment to study in a STEM area
  4. Declaration of major in a designated STEM area (Eligible majors include: Biology, Biophysical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Science, Engineering, Geographic Science, Geology, Intelligence Analysis, Integrated Science and Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics).

One letter of reference from a science, technology, or mathematics teacher is REQUIRED to complete this application.  Each applicant will receive an email with specific instructions and a unique hyperlink to share with the person who will submit the letter of reference.  It is the responsibility of the applicant to forward the email to the person selected to write the letter.
