Executive Advisory Council

Mission

The Executive Advisory Council (EAC) for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Health and Human Services serves as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas to promote and enhance the programmatic, external funding, partnership, and outreach activities of the relevant academic units. The EAC serves in an advisory capacity to the Vice Provost for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Health and Human Services and the unit leadership and faculty within the purview of the Vice Provost. Primary responsibilities of the EAC are to provide stimulation and guidance for existing and future academic programs and related activities, serve as an advocate for the University and its academic programs, and provide leadership in philanthropic and related activities to ensure the support needed to carry out the mission of the University and advancing the excellence of these specific academic programs.

Purpose & Benefits

The Executive Advisory Council serves as the window to the world for the diverse array of programs in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, health and human services.

  • EAC members provide ideas and guidance for academic program development and revision.
  • EAC members facilitate connections between the academic programs, faculty and students with outside governmental and private sector entities. These connections add value to the JMU educational experience by providing real world projects and research for faculty and students, internships and potentially job placement.
  • The EAC serves as a nexus for connecting faculty, students, alumni, friends in ways that promote the STEM/HHS programs of JMU and advance the educational mission of the University and these programs.
  • EAC members support the academic programs by giving of their resources – their time, their contacts, and their financial support.
