CISAT International Grant Awardees Travel Abroad in May 2012

Mike Deaton (Integrated Science and Technology) has developed a board game that mimics the bust-boom dynamics associated with recurrent cycles of drought, livestock loss, and hunger in Southern Kenya. Mike will travel to Kenya to use and evaluate the game with local livestock herders.

Cindy Hunter (Social Work) is travelling to El Salvador to lay groundwork for a study abroad course, investigate the possibility of a new social work field practicum site, and to build relationships toward creating internet exchange for a course taught at JMU.

Ayasakanta Rout (Communication Sciences and Disorders) will travel to India to begin development of a short-term study abroad program which will be designed to highlight the social, cultural, and linguistic aspects of a diverse society.  In the future, students will travel to a host of popular and unique locations to experience Indian culture and lifestyles.
