Hydrogen Fuel Cell Air Monitoring Station
The first application of the hydrogen-fueled proton exchange membrane fuel cells for Shenandoah National Park was a prototype system that could power small tools. Currently the system is combined with a hydrogen generator, and installed as a supplementary power source into a trailer. The system will provide portable power, but without the emissions and noise. The portable system will be demonstrated at Shenandoah National Park as back-up power for their air monitoring station, and at JMU in concert with their PV array. Ultimately, we would like to expand the system to be part of a hydrogen network in VA. The cost to support this project is estimated at $10,000
